The lyrical genius that is Lupe comes back with his third album Lasers with the video of the lead singe ’I'm Beamin’ produced by the Major, Grammy winning duo of Pharell Williams and Chad Hugo Aka The Neptunes. The video is quite creative and makes good use of a lot of cut outs, simple animation and some cool light effects. Its directed by Shomi Patwary who worked with him previously and also with the likes of Kanye West and Clipse.

The cover of Ellie’s new single ‘Guns and Horses‘ got released. The typography of it is beautiful and works really well it co-ordinates with the whole ‘Lights‘ theme, including the specs of light in the background kind of like stardust. Ellie herself looks beautiful as always and her hoodie shines accordingly. Designed by Authority whose clients include Pixie Lott, Alesha Dixon, Duffy and The Courteneers to name a few.

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Award in full. The 27th annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards were handed out last night in Los Angeles, with Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald named Songwriter of the Year, Jason Mraz‘s “I’m Yours” won for Song of the Year and EMI Music Publishing was named Publisher of the Year.
Jay Sean co wrote Down a winner of the Most Performed Songs Award and everyone in the team behind it was honoured Jared Cotter, Robert “Bobbybass” Larow and Jeremy Skaller.

a Chinese pop star Zhang Xuanyan, who goes by the name of PixieTea made a catchy tune solely from apps on her iPhone. The accompanying video was also edited on her iphone. Many people are urging Apple to sign her up for advertising campaings.
PixieTea, from the central Chinese city of Xi’an, used apps including Drum Meister, Basist, iDrum, NlogSynthesizer, NESynth and iShred. She also says she loves Brit Pop, and cites Lily Allen and The Charlatans as influences.

i recently rediscovered this Scorcher ‘Dark Knight’ video and it reminded me of the latest Young Money singles ‘Roger That’ video. Both employ comic-book style animation and feature the respective artist as characters, untouched by the animation.
Scorcher’s attempt is his 3rd single off his Grime Album ‘Concrete Jungle‘ produced by Target and the video was directed by Scorcher himself. This video is more experimental and was realeased in December ’09 i quite like the effects in the video and it proves that the gap with America is lessening.
Young Moneys version is also their 3rd single off their No.1 US Rap Album ‘We Are Young Money‘ and the video obviously seems to be of a bigger budget. Its a comic-book strip version of their world where they live fabulous hectic lives. This video however, is less experimental and quite rigid to its theme.
